 FAQ's...

Do you have a shop? Where can I see your work?
A lot of my work is here on my website. We have a workshop/studio in Salisbury and some of our work is in galleries.

Can I visit you?
You are welcome to make an appointment to visit the workshop in Salisbury. Most bespoke commissions are easier if you can make it in person.

When can you deliver by?
We deliver "Ready to Wear" items in stock within 7 days. An item not in stock will be made specially for you, and we will contact you immediately to agree a delivery date (typically 2 - 3 weeks).
Bespoke commissions generally take about 4 weeks from start to delivery, depending on the complexity and how busy we are. Christmas (Nov - Dec) and the Wedding Seasons (May - Aug), are our peak times.
If you have a very urgent requirement then let us know as we may be able to create something faster for you (if you're willing to pay us extra for all the late nights and grey hair!)

How much will my idea cost?
Commissions start at around £150. Alison offers a free consultation and estimate with no obligation. The price depends on how long it takes to make and the cost of the materials. We ask for a £50 design deposit, which is subtracted off the final price. Before we make anything you receive an official quote. If you decide to go ahead we ask for 50% up front to cover materials then the final 50% on receipt of your jewellery. For more see How to Buy.

What happens if I don't like the jewellery?
99% of the time our customers love what Ali has made for them, but if you're not happy then we'd like to know! If it's from our collections you have 28 days to return the item (unworn in perfect condition) for exchange or a full refund.
Bespoke jewellery is slightly different as you've commissioned us to make your idea - Therefore our guarantee specifically covers the quality of workmanship & materials for a bespoke item, whereas the design itself is fully discussed and agreed with you before we start making.
If you want extra peace of mind we can do a 3D virtual computer model of the piece before we make anything. Just let us know...

What would my (girlfriend/partner/husband) like?
Don't worry... if you're a bit hazy about what you want, Alison is very good at suggesting ideas. Just get in touch and start by telling us about your special person.

Which birthstone?
Giving birthstones as a gift of luck is obviously still a strong tradition as we get asked this a lot! We've put together a handy list of birthstones

Do you only work in precious metal?
Generally yes. Silver, gold & platinum, though we can make things other metals such as copper or brass and have them plated. eg we have made funky brass belt buckles and even some things out of Aluminium which was colour anodised afterwards.

What finishes can you apply?
Various, does depend on the item and metal used, but basically an item can be polished, satin, brushed, roughened and hammered. Some metals like aluminium and titanium can be anodised. Here are more pictures.

I've got an old ring, can you melt it down to use the metal?
Yes, but it's usually quite fiddly and therefore more expensive than using use new metal. If it's for sentimental reasons then we're very happy to do this (assuming it's good enough quality to work with).

Do you do repairs?
We do some repairs, such as resizing rings, replacing or resetting gems stones and restringing pearls.

I've inherited an heirloom I'm not too keen on - can you do something with it?
Times change of course... you'd be surprised how many people guiltily ask us if we can transform Granny's favourite piece into something... er... more wearable. It really depends on the piece but we've successfully transformed many items into things that people want to wear, even to the extent of melting it down to start again. We can also help you get a valuation before you do anything rash!

Do you do Celtic Jewellery?
No. Sorry.
